Is an abortion legal in Austria?
Yes.
Under Austrian law (§ 96–98 of the Criminal Code, the so-called time-limit model / Fristenlösung), an abortion within the first three months of pregnancy is lawful if performed by a physician after prior consultation. The medical abortion method we offer is specifically available up to 63 days after the last menstrual period.
Do I need to visit a separate counseling center before coming to you?

Will I be fertile again after the abortion?
Yes.
Fertility is generally not impaired by the procedure. Your normal cycle usually resumes within a few weeks.
What if the medical abortion is not fully effective?
In rare cases, some tissue may remain, or the pregnancy may continue. Therefore, a follow-up check after the procedure is important and will be scheduled with you. If any further treatment is necessary, we will discuss the next steps with you directly.

A medical abortion is a private-pay service in Austria and is generally not covered by statutory health insurance. We are happy to inform you of the exact costs in advance by phone or during your appointment.
